Hi guys, I need to import into Strategy Quant the history data for CADCHF and GBPJPY Forex pairs.
See the attacched picture.

For CADCHF (5 digits quotations) I’ve done the following setting
Pip/Tick Step = 0.00001
Pip/Tick Size  = 0.0001

For CADJPY (3 digits quotations) I’ve done the following setting
Pip/Tick Step = 0.001
Pip/Tick Size  = 0.01

I need help about the Point Value in $ setting.
Do I have to set 100000 for both the Forex pairs ?
or do I have to convert that value in CHF in $  and from JPY in $ ?
Thanks for the help

Hello,

the second currency in pair name express point value. Use this currency to convert to USD point value. https://pages.strategyquant.com/strategyquant-data-setting/

Hello, the second currency in pair name express point value. Use this currency to convert to USD point value. https://pages.strategyquant.com/strategyquant-data-setting/

Thanks for your help.

Can you also explain the calculation method of that value ? (I’m referring to the Point Value in $ field)

For example : today I need to import the CHFJPY history.

On the link you suggested, for JPY I found the Point Value in $ = 899.

If instead I use the tool shared by @Karish, I obtain a Point Value in $ = 855  (see the annexed picture)

Values are a little bit different, and I do not know if this slight difference may  compromise the generation results.

So it’s better for me to know the way to calculate it.

I appreciate the help you’ll give me !!

@loonet

It shows 899 via the script for the value at that exact moment,

the url that tomas gave you says 850 as the average round value sum,

my script showing you the EXACT value at the moment,

you can set it to 899 / 900 / 850, that does not matter that much,

if you feel like setting 850 it will be ok also 🙂

Ok your script shows the MarketInfo  MODE_TICKVALUE  result.
It is the Tick value in the deposit currency (MQL4 Book).
Infact I just tried to execute it in a MT4 account with deposit currency in EUR and for CHFJPY  it gives  Point Value in $ = 804  (eur which is not right for SQ  Point Value in $ setting)
and at the same time I tried to execute it in a MT4 account with deposit currency in USD and for CHFJPY  it gives  Point Value in $ = 899.

It shows 899 via the script for the value at that exact moment,

the url that tomas gave you says 850 as the average round value sum,….”

The average round value sum calculated which portion of the history?

What I do not understand is why it is necessary to refer to the current Point Value in $  if I need to import  a 15-year history.
I means is if  for example I re-import the same history data on the next year, the Point Value in $ will surely have changed.
Which is the impact of this difference on the automatic generation of strategies?
In my opinion a historical data set should be independent of the current of the exchange rate.
And if Point Value in $ setting does not matter that much, Why do you need to insert it ?

Thanks for your help to clear my dubts about this topic

Mark and the Dev team should answer on that, i dont know why it should be inserted, it should be automated and built in to the program it self,
we need more options to set our account,

like so:

Account settings and calculations:
Account Currency = USD
Leverage = 100
etc…

and we need an additional setting in history which is to get the right SWAP long + short to get more accurate results and better sync between SQ + MT4 ..

Hello,

thanks for the ideas. I have forwarded this to Mark. It makes sense what you mentioned. US dollar point value is relevant for instruments traded in US dollars. We will think enhancing this in StrategyQuant 4.

That’s not an idea. It’s someting not so Clear for me By the answers I received.
It seems that an arbitrary Point Value setting is Good anyway. But if so,what it is Good for, that parameter?
