Hi,

I am just starting with StrategyQuant so I have many questions.

I was looking at some of the strategies included with the software. Then I decided to apply them to new data of DAX.

I created a new ticker following the instructions.

1st problem: the examples I have are for forex, so the pips/ticks details etc are a bit different.

When I retest the strategy it is COMPLETELY different , being totally and constantly looser.

So the first suspect is that maybe my data settings are wrong.

I copy here the info I took from my broker activtrades /MT4 platform )  for DAX:

   Tick Value: 12.5

Tick Size: 0.5   ( this is 0.5 points)

    spread = 15 pips  ( example 11.100,0  to 11.101,5)

But I am not sure if I implement this correctly in SQ

– What I put was:

  Point Value in $ = 25    ( I don’t make difference between eur and $ )

  pip/Tick step= 0.5               pip/Tick Size: 1  ¿?

  Def spread: 15 pips            Cost = 0

I would have to do it for S&P and all the other indexes, so it is important that I understand this correctly.

It is a very basic question but I did not found a clear explanation of this in the forum.

       Best regards

 Rafael

What I usually do is look at trade list in SQ and correct the settings until I make it right. In trade list you can see details necessary to understand how things change when you adjust symbol settings. I think the best way is to understand platform/SQ symbol dependencies for yourself by experimenting, so you can play with any symbol in the future. My DAX/MT4 settings: Point Value:1, Pip/Tick Step:0.1, Pip/Tick Size:1.
