Hi,

I have read MetaQuotes is not updating MT4 anymore, letting it slowly die.

https://smnweekly.com/2016/11/15/metaquotes-abandons-mt4-turns-entirely-to-mt5-trading-platform/

I believe there wont be any other option, besides including support for generating code for MT5 in SQ.

Are there any plans to this in SQ4?

I would like to see it as “not going to make MT4 any better” because I think MT4 is in its best form now, that is why MT5 is struggling to compete with its predecessor.

In the past whenever they came up with a build update in MT4, it makes developer nervous on the changes that they’ve implemented becoz it could involve major changes for the developers.

So I guess now the current build is going to be “up to date” forever which is good for us!

MT5 programming structure is a lot more complicated than MT4, so I am totally not looking forward to on-board the MT5 bandwagon.

It would be ideal if they can make MT5 backwards compatible!!!

MetaQuotes haven’t added any worthwhile features to MT4 since the very first version came out, apart from a load of marketing rubbish aimed at the MQL5 marketplace.

Single threaded back tester (useless on modern CPU), no native support for tick data, no native renko support, 32 bit only, max fxt file size of 4gb (without external tools).  These limations haven’t been addressed in 10 years.

Overall I won’t shed a tear if they drop MT4.

I am currently looking at this platform for trading, backtesting, optimisation instead of MT4.

(Removed in retrospect because it was an embarrassing beginner question and didn’t add any value, haha)

Interesting…looks like it requires some learning of its proprietary language for writing codes.

The language is C-lite, so very similar to MQL4, but the functions and architecture of the platform is quite different.
